Claire's father

So, I'm beginning to wonder how evil Claire's dad really is. So, granted, he did erase the day that Matt spent being tied up. But on the flip side, he let him go unharmed. He erased the quarterback's memory. But what parent wouldn't do something like that? In fact, if he was as bad as the show is hinting at, wouldn't he have had the kid killed? Especially since the show is leading us to the opinion that Claire's dad is the one that had Mohinder's father killed?

He could have left Claire without every meeting who she thought were her parents. If he knew they were dead or truly couldn't find them, mightn't he have thought that she would be better off knowing something about two random strangers than knowing that her parents are dead? It might not be right, but he doesn't necessarily do things right.

The facts just aren't adding up to me. Though I still hate Eden and I knew she wasn't as innocent as she seemed to be.

As much as he really seems to care for Claire, in this case, I think he did it to throw her off course.
Woah! I just had a thought. Just now as I was typing this reply to you, a complete stranger and fellow Heroes fan.... What if he killed her parents? I might have to bring this up somewhere else.

It's possible, but the way that Claire's mom was talking about when she was a baby, it sounds like he really didn't know where Claire's real parents were. If he'd killed them, it's entirely believable that he could have told Mom that they were dead. She wouldn't suspect a thing, after all. She is rather ditzy.

i'm torn about her dad, too. i'm not a big theory person (i just haven't the mind for things like that - lol) but i wonder if he's out doing things for what he believes is a good cause. *shrugs* like maybe he doesn't want to kill the heroes (example, matt the cop) but maybe he has to...ya kn ow, nix that. i'm rolling my eyes at myself as i type. :-D

all i know is that i trust her dad zilch. and everytime they hug and kiss, i get this he's-a-pedophile-feeling.

btw thanks for posting eden's name. i could not remember it!

Horn-Rimmed Glasses feels a bit like a red-herring, someone set up to be so obviously evil that you can't believe that it could be that simple. And how do you define evil on this show anyway? After all, Mohinder's father is possibly responsible for triggering Sylar's cannibalistic compulsion. If Claire's foster father is trying to find out about Papa Suresh's research and locate Sylar, doesn't that make him an ally?

Hey, that's an amazing icon - is it borrowable?

I didn't make the icon. It's from [livejournal.com profile] clicktrackicons.

Well, evil is probably whatever is chopping heads off or whatever blows up New York. And I think that right now they're pointing the blame to Daddy, but I don't think he has anything to do with that.

Yeah, I totally agree with you - *I'd* have killed the quarterback.

I think he really cares for Claire - whether he meant to in the first instance or not, and that may affect his agenda.

And, yeah, had Eden pegged as a plant from the beginning, though I wasn't sure if she was working for Mr. Bennett or a third party...

She was way too convenient to be true. The whole scene with the guy planting the bug was probably a setup. If he could get away with it, great. If not, Eden would be there to play hero and find an in with Mohinder.

I had my doubts about her dad too (not just on this episode, but yeah after the QB thing). I suppose it should have dawned on me that if her dad was one of the Big Bad then hey why are they making him so overtly bad. That didn't seem to go with the show at all...but well I don't think he's blameless.

Its possible that he accidentally got Mohinder's dad killed. I think he's after Sylar and that by examining all these people he's hoping to see why Sylar takes the brains out and how it gives him more power (I think that his only original power is that of a 'leech'. and by doing whatever he does with the brains, he's able to 'leech' the power from these potential 'heroes') to stop him. To date he hasn't done anything awful (kidnapping is BAD, but well he didn't do anything to him), only lots of insinuations.

I hate Eden. I knew she wasn't as sweetie pie as she put on. Name me another person in all of NYC that would do as much as she did for 'papa suresh' with no return AND fully believe his ramblings. Mohinder you're an idiot (a hot one, but still one).

I think what was really telling was at the end of the episode when Eden told him what Peter head from future!Hiro. He's not stupid, we know that much and he put it together awfully quick like. He obviously cares for Claire. The fake parents thing was a little too much though. I guess on the one hand, yeah she's more relieved, but on the other she seemed to only want to meet her bio-parents to see if they could do what she could do. Or at least explain. So she's still troubled and the visit did nothing to help with that.
